One of our readers, who only identified himself as "Michael", tipped us off overnight to a really cool-looking item that is up for pre-order at Amazon.com. It is a Book, The Lost Chronicles : The Official Companion Book. 176 pages long, it ships on September 28th from Hyperion Books. The description bills this item as "filled with a detailed episode guide and a behind-the-scenes look at the making of the show, the fully illustrated book offers plot twists and backstories that will help fans uncover the mysteries of Lost. Also included are reflections and anecdotes from cast members, writers, and executive producer/creator J. J. Abram that readers won't find anywhere else."
So why are we talking about this here at TVShowsOnDVD? Because this trade paperback book also "comes with an exclusive hour-long DVD containing unaired scenes from the show"! With the use of the word "exclusive", it sounds like these scenes will not necessarily be among those included on the season set's extras. If so, then it seems like this might be something that will be a must-have item to accompany the 9/6 release of Lost - The Complete 1st Season. Amazon's cost for the book is $12.89 (the SRP is $18.95). Thanks, Michael, for letting us know about this. Here's the cover art:
It's been four months since we posted a rumor that Image had licensed Nowhere Man for DVD release sometime in 2005. Image Entertainment has now confirmed this release, and is announcing a December 27th release date for what they say is a 9-DVD set!
How much will that huge bad boy cost you? Expect a reasonable cost of $69.99 SRP (CA$79.99 in Canada). That includes the entire run of the show, plus lots of nice extras. Cover art isn't available yet, but we have Image's rundown of the set to quote for you here:
Unknown forces conspire to erase the identity of photographer Thomas Vail (BRUCE GREENWOOD, "I, Robot"), and without warning, every aspect of his life is annulled during the course of one evening. His wife acts as if he's a stranger, his credit cards are suddenly invalid, his keys no longer fit the door to his home and in one way or another, his family and friends are silenced. Completely alone, Veil sets out on a desperate cross-country quest for an answer while eluding his powerful and unknown enemy. His only clue to the possible motivation behind the harrowing ordeal is the disappearance of one of his photographs, "Hidden Agenda," which depicts the execution of natives in a war-torn Third World country.
SPECIAL FEATURES:
Audio and video commentaries (Larry Hertzog, Bruce Greenwood, Peter Dunne, Steve Rodman, Art Montersatelli), - interviews (Larry Hertzog, Art Montersatelli, Guy Mager, Steve Rodman, Bruce Greenwood, Michael Levine, Meghan Gallagher), - deleted and extended scenes, - promotional spots - outtakes - featurette -- "Networking" (UPN executive Mike Sullivan and series creator Larry Hertzog reminisce) - featurette -- "Fact and Fiction" (an anonymous ex-CIA operative reveals true world government conspiracies, mind control techniques and how fragile our identity really is)
EPISODE LIST:
1. Absolute Zero
2. Turnabout
3. Incredible Derek
4. Something About Her
5. Paradise on Your Doorstep
6. The Spider Webb
7. A Rough Whimper of Insanity
8. The Alpha Spike
9. You Really Got A Hold On Me
10. Father (a.k.a. Validation)
11. An Enemy Within
12. It's Not Such a Wonderful Life
13. Contact (a.k.a. Deep Throat)
14. Heart of Darkness
15. Forever Jung (a.k.a. Doubles)
16. Shine A Light On You (a.k.a. Masons)
17. Stay Tuned
18. Hidden Agenda
19. Doppleganger
20. Though a Lens Darkly (a.k.a. Shutterbug)
21. Dark Side of the Moon (a.k.a. The Mugging)
22. Calaway
23. Zero Minue Ten (a.k.a. Coma)
24. Marathon
Hmmm...that episode list which Image provided seems to be short an episode. The 25th and final episode, "Gemini Man", looks like it accidentally got left off of Image's announcement. We expect it to be present on the DVDs, though. Stay tuned and we'll let you know if we find out otherwise.
